Well, it's been a long while since I've posted much here. I've been a little busy these past nine months, with a new baby, new job, and a crazy holiday season. I'm hoping that I can do better in the future, and will be trying to put more useful information here more frequently.

Streetlight Problems

We now have just about all of our streetlights installed. All but, it appears, four (three along Walney Park Drive and one at the corner of Autumn Glory and Henry Pond).

Recently, two lights were burnt out, and we had to call them in to Dominion Virginia Power for maintenance. When we do that, we need the ID code off the light pole. To make that easier (especially since the first batch of poles were ambiguously marked), I've put up a reference page listing all the lights in the community, and each light's ID tag.

In practice, though, we should probably not call Dominion directly. Instead, call the management company (their phone number is on the Contacts page), and tell them the address of the light that's out and, if possible, its ID tag. If a light presents a danger (like if it's been knocked over and is still live), then by all means call Dominion directly, but then please also call the Management Company so they'll be able to track the issue.

Board Meeting
February 21, 2006

Present: Mike, Kevin, David, Jim

The meeting convened at approximately 7:00 pm. The minutes from the January board meeting were reviewed and approved without objection.

Kevin gave a quick review of the financial situation, generally stating that we're in good shape. He also spoke briefly about zillow.com, a home sales and assessment value site, especially with regards to how our home values have continued to go up.

Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for the small theatre in Rocky Run MS, on 4/18/06. Mike wanted to meet with the new Social Committee director prior to the annual meeting to discuss ideas for the spring and summer (yard sale, block party, etc.). Also, two terms on the board expire at this year's meeting, and there was general talk about whether Kevin and David would run again.

Board Meeting, December 20, 2006

Preserve at Wynmar Homeowners Association
Board of Directors Meeting
Tuesday, December 20, 2005
7:00 pm, Mike Parks' house

Present:

  • Board Members: Mike Parks, Kevin Corcoran, David Schuetz
  • ARC: Rob Switala
  • Guests from Paterra HOA: Peter and Wade
  • Special Guest: Fairfax County Sully District Supervisor Michael Frey
  • Management Company: Saundra Lucke, Jeff Koger

The meeting began with a special session about the plans for the Rt. 28 / Walney / Braddock intersection. Supervisor Frey spoke for almost an hour, describing the history of the intersection, the long-term road plans for western Fairfax County, budgets, VDOT politics, and so forth. A full report of this session will be posted to the website and may be published in a newsletter. The bottom line is that Supervisor Frey is collecting comments on the VDOT plan, and will review all the collected comments and notes from the last public meeting sometime after the new year. After that, he plans to meet with VDOT officials and plan for a follow-up meeting in the spring.

Board Meeting, 18 October 2005

Present: Mike, James, David, Jim, Kevin, plus Susan and Rob from ARC.

Regarding ARC, guidelines, and such: Different versions of guidelines may have been provided by edgemoore...some people received at settlement as well as at contract. Some people's guidelines seem to be different from others'. [note - after further investigation, we haven't been able to verify this] Also, we haven't even seen what Brookfield home buyers got. In general, The ARC and Board don't do want anything that'll change the "flavor" of the community. We may get pushback on changes, both from people who expected certain restrictions to remain, and from those who might want more flexibility. The ARC (and to a lesser degree, the Board) is generally in favor of not making radical changes to guidelines, per se, preferring to deal with some of the proposed changes as (if) they come up, on case-by-case basis, rather than explicitly permitting or excluding them in the guidelines. We then reviewed guidelines change proposals from ARC (from August) and from David (from even earlier).

General Meeting, November 9, 2005

The Board held the first of what we hope to become an annual fall meeting, at Rocky Run Middle School. This time, we drew the small theatre, which was quieter than the cafeteria, but a little cold (and the outdoor ampitheatre style seating was a little strange). The entire Board of Directors was in attendance, as was the outgoing Koger representative (Anna Simmons), and a little over 20 homeowners.

Anna gave a quick report about the transition to the new Koger representative, and then Mike (HOA President) gave a quick recap of the spring Annual Meeting, including an update on the makeup of the Board.
